Designed by John Galliano, who was the head designer of Dior from October 1996 to March 2011, this beautiful piece debuted in 2000 spring collection. The inspiration may seem quite odd, but it was the homeless people that Galliano saw each morning on the streets of Paris while running around the Seine. He also took the inspiration from Egon Schiele and "Rag Balls" in Cologne in the 1930s - as weird as it sounds - it was popular for rich people to dress like poor on these parties. It is seen in season three, episode 17 of Sex and The City, worn by one and only Sarah Jessica Parker who played Carrie Bradshaw, and then 8 years later we can admire it on her in Sex and The City movie.
